Avon Library To Explore Gender Pronouns
The library is hosting a virtual forum, led by a transgender activist, on gender pronouns and how they are seen in society.

AVON, CT — The Avon Free Public Library Thursday evening is hosting a virtual program looking at transgender awareness at a time when it is being seen as a politically divisive issue.
The program, which is called "Pronouns, Are They Really That Scary?" is on Thursday, Feb. 1, at 6:30 p.m. via the Zoom platform.

It is being led by a transgender woman named "Jillian," who also is a licensed psychotherapist, social worker, and activist.
Jillian co-authored two published transgender studies at Yale University and is a published author of her book, “Transitioning Later in Life: A Personal Guide.”

She works at a private practice as a licensed therapist and educator for the transgender/gender-diverse community.
"The goal of this program is to educate and bring awareness regarding the use of pronouns and the importance of using someone’s correct pronouns among the transgender/gender diverse population," wrote the library in an announcement.
Teens and adults are both welcome.
Registration is required and Zoom links will be sent out before the event.
