Avon Library To Look At 'Queer Women In History'

AVON, CT — A Connecticut LGBTQ activist will be at the Avon Free Public Library for a special event highlighting women who are part of the LGBTQ community in history.

Called "Queer Women in History," the program is Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at the library community room, 21 Country Club Road, Avon.

The program, which is free but registration is asked, is for adults and teens in grades 8 and up.

It will feature East Haddam resident Clare McCarthy, who is the producer/host of "Transqat the Podcast."

The day's events will feature "Kahoot trivia," so guests are asked to bring a smartphone or device with Wi-Fi or cellular data. (A device is not required. Folks can participate tech-free but won’t have scores for their trivia answers.)

McCarthy is an educator and transgender advocate.

The name of her podcast is "Transqat" (pronounced “trans-kat”) and it "is a safe space for respectful conversations about trans issues and queer people."
