Avon Library, Smithsonian Team Up To Offer Exhibit On Evolution
The Avon Free Public Library was one of only six libraries in the U.S. chosen by the Smithsonian to host the exhibit, which opens Dec. 1.

AVON, CT — Starting Sunday, Dec. 1, the Avon Free Public Library will host the traveling exhibition "Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human?"
The library was selected to host the exhibit through a national competition offered by the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History and the American Library Association.

The exhibition will open at the Avon Library at 1 pm on Sunday, Dec. 1. It is located at 281 Country Club Road, Avon, and the exhibit will run through Jan. 15, 2025.

In addition, scientists and other experts from the NMNH Human Origins Program will visit Avon to host events for the community, including a science program, educator workshop, community conversations, and more.

Through panels, interactive kiosks, hands-on displays, and videos, "Exploring Human Origins: What Does It Mean to Be Human?" invites viewers of all ages to explore to learn about the milestones in the evolutionary journey of becoming human.
The exhibition is free and open to the public during library hours: Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m./Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m./Friday, Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
