Avon Man Among 18 Busted in Hartford Drug Sting

Hartford police executed an undercover narcotics sting Thursday , resulting in the arrests of 18 people, including an Avon resident.

Kerry Scanlon, 19, of 96 Mallard Dr., Avon, was charged with third-degree criminal trespass. He was arrested at 8:28 p.m. at 109 Franklin Ave., which police had staked out due to numerous complaints of narcotic sales there.

During the operation, which ran from 5 p.m. until about 9:30, nearly 1,400 bags of heroin were seized, as well as numerous bags of cocaine and PCP and more than $5,000 in cash.

The others arrested were from Hartford, Berlin, New Britain, Bristol, Plainville, Colchester, Terryville, Torrington and Middletown.
