AVON, CT — A meal at a fine Mexican eatery locally next week will do more than just fill your stomach.

It might help send an Avon high school student to college.

On Wednesday, April 24, the Puerto Vallarta Mexican restaurant, 15 W. Avon Road, Avon, is hosting a day-long fundraiser for Avon Dollars for Scholars.

Anyone dining in or getting takeout at the restaurant just needs to mention "Avon Dollars for Scholars" and a portion of the proceeds will fund scholarship opportunities for local students.

The restaurant is open that day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., meaning lunch and dinner could pay off for local students.
