Avon Nets Cash For Emergency Center Upgrades
A condition of those funds, however, requires a federal flood plain review of the APD site, which requires a federal review process.

AVON, CT — The town has been awarded $25,000 from the state to purchase and install computer media equipment to help local officials handle future emergencies.
But before the check is in the mail, the State of Connecticut needs Avon folks to get a little work done.
The funding will come from the state's Emergency Management Performance Grant Pool Funding program and the computerized equipment will be installed in Avon's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at the Avon Police Department.

"This equipment will support and optimize the town's emergency response operations efforts by providing streamlined access to critical electronics resources," wrote the Town of Avon.
In order to get the money, though, the town must conduct what is called a Federal Emergency Management Agency Floodplain review since the APD site is located on a known floodway, town officials wrote.
