
Dorothy Brooks James, 99 of Cromwell, formerly of Avon, Point ‘O’ Woods Beach Old Lyme, Connecticut and Stuart, Florida passed Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Greentree Manor in Waterford, Connecticut.
She was born April 1, 1917 in East Hartford, Connecticut, daughter of Margaret and Alexander Brooks.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years Richard James and her siblings Margaret Devanney, Elizabeth Arbo, Francis Brooks and Raymond Brooks also sons in law Victor Pettinato and Anthony Arementano. Dorothy is survived by her three beloved daughters Diane Hrinak (Richard) of Old Lyme, Deborah Pettinato Armentano of Old Lyme, and Doreen Nash (David) of Cromwell; 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She leaves sisters-in-law Mabel Dodge of West Hartford and Sophie Brooks of Florida.

Dorothy was a proud member of the VFW and volunteered with many organizations in Connecticut and Florida. Dorothy’s love of life, humor, pride, and sense of style were an inspiration to all that knew her and her memory will be treasured by her family.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at the Church of St. John of Cromwell at 10 am with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery Rocky Hill.
