Avon Obituary: Elaine (Wessels) Carlson, 64

Elaine W. Carlson, 64 of Bolton beloved wife of Robert H. “Bob” Carlson passed away peacefully with her family at her side Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Hartford Hospital.

Elaine was born in Hartford, March 13, 1952, daughter of Hazel (Conklin) Wessels of South Windsor and the late Erwin “Wes” Wessels. She has resided in Bolton for the past 15 years, previously living in Avon and Port Orange, FL. Elaine recently retired after 10 years, in December 2016, as secretary to the Dean of Education at Capitol Community College, Hartford. She was a wonderful seamstress, a great baker, an avid reader, enjoyed puzzles and especially her time working in the garden.

In addition to her beloved husband and mother, Elaine is survived by her loving family, a daughter, Christine Carlson, of Bolton, a brother, George Wessels of Greenville, SC, stepchildren, Rob and Lorrie Carlson of Newington, Craig and Deanne Carlson of Dickson, TN, Diane and Chris Terry of Manchester, Karen and George Webb of Lebanon, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews and their families.

A Celebration of Life service will be Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 10 am at Holmes Funeral Home 400 Main Street Manchester with burial to follow in East Cemetery, Manchester. Memorial calling hours will be Monday, Feb. 20, form 4-7 pm at the funeral home.
