
Ernest H. Ehrhardt, 84, of Westport, formerly of Avon, beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Andrew) Ehrhardt, passed away on November 11, 2015.
Born in Jersey City, NJ to the late Robert and Florence (Moeller) Ehrhardt, he was raised in Southbury where he attended Bullet Hill School and graduated from Woodbury High School in 1949. He went on to receive a BS in Accounting from UConn. After serving in the US Army for two years, Ernie returned home to marry his college sweetheart, Dorothy Andrew in 1956. He was employed by Uniroyal for 33 years followed by 10 years as a Property Manager for The Condo Management Company.
Ernie raised his family in Cheshire where he built their home himself and was involved in the community most notably as a Scoutmaster for BSA Troop #398. His love for the outdoors showed in his yard work, gardening and his many outings and camping trips with his family though out his life. He was a faithful UConn sports fan and Sec 122 row 16 seat #7 at “The Rent” is now empty. Ernie loved animals and adopted several.

Upon moving to Westport, Ernie lived at and proudly served as Vice President of The Saugatuck (a Senior Housing Co-Op) and was Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. His love for LI Sound and the ocean was fulfilled by regular visits to Westport’s beautiful Compo Beach.
Ernie is survived by a son John Ehrhardt (Ellen) of Firestone, CO, a daughter Elaine Nord (David) of Avon and Westport; five grandchildren, Sean and his wife Antonia Ehrhardt of Oviedo, FL, Ryan Ehrhardt of CO, Erika Nord of New York City, Garrison Nord of Philadelphia, and Dustin Nord of Westport; great granddaughter Addison and great grandson Aiden both of Oviedo, FL. Besides his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert Ehrhardt.

Private services with burial in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery are being arranged by Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon.
Memorial contributions to celebrate Ernie’s love for animals may be made to the ASPCA, PO Box 96929 Washington, DC 20090-6929 or on line. Ernie always helped others, please do something nice for someone when you think of him.
