
Nancy Eudora “Dodie” (Berlew) Lyhne, 91, of Avon, beloved wife of the late Borge Lyhne, passed away Tuesday, September 19, 2017.
Born in Orange, PA, daughter of the late George and Myrtle (Lamoreaux) Berlew, she had lived in Avon for over 60 years. Dodie graduated from Bloomsburg State Teacher’s College in Bloomsburg, PA, now Bloomsburg University, where she met her devoted husband Borge. She taught school in Darby, PA and then in West Hartford for 25 years, after moving to CT. She was also employed for over 30 years at FAVARH Thrift Shop where she met many dear friends.
Her family and friends were her dearest treasures. She was a member of MU Chapter Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society of outstanding teachers, as well as many educational organizations. She belonged to the Avon Senior Center and was a member of the West Avon Congregational Church. Dodie loved to cook and entertain. Christmas was a very special time for her and her family.

She is survived by her two daughters Nancy Sheridan and her husband Michael of Danville, NH and Laura Deveny and her husband Rob of Winsted. She also leaves three cherished grandchildren Hannah and Connor Sheridan and Kelsey Nash and her husband Jon; her former son-in-law Gil Menard; two sisters-in-law Ida Berlew of Okeechobee, FL and Margaret Berlew of Orange, PA; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. Besides her husband of 54 years, Borge, she was predeceased by brothers Robert and Richard Berlew.
Her family will receive friends Sunday, September 24, 2017 from 3-6 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Memorial Service will be Monday, September 25, 2017, at 11 am at the West Avon Congregational Church, 280 Country Club Road. Avon. The Rev. Dr. Brian Hardee, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in West Avon Cemetery.
