Avon Obituary: Paul Regeness, 92

Condolences to his family and friends.

Paul William Regeness, 92, beloved and devoted husband for 68 years to Carol (McHattie) Regeness, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Sunday, August 27, 2017.

Born in Patterson, NJ, son of the late Henry and Rose (Miester) Regeness, he was raised there and served as a Sgt in the US Army Air Corp during W. W. II. He lived in Nassau County, NY before moving to Avon in 1990.

In NY, he was a member of New Hyde Park Baptist Church where he served as worship leader, church chairman, and sang tenor in the church choir. He also ran the church video and sound system. He was a member of the Albertson Hook and Ladder Company # 1 for 16 years and was one of the first EMT’s certified in Nassau County, NY.

After moving to Avon, he joined the Valley Community Baptist Church where he was an Elder, sang in the choir, and also ran the video and sound system for many years. Professionally, he was an electronic technician working for RCA for over 40 years before retiring.

He served with the Avon Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years and enjoyed woodworking and sharing his creations with family and friends. Paul’s greatest legacy was his strong faith in God which he shared and passed on to generations of his family.

Besides his wife Carol he leaves his son William Paul Regeness (Diane) of Warrenton, VA; three daughters Linda R. Scott (Rob) of Simsbury, Diane C. Maida (Russ) of Avon and Janet C. Rooney (James) of Simsbury; 14 grandchildren: Samantha, Rebekah, Sarah (Scott), and Paul; Joshua (Anna), Jacob, Hannah (Jake); Jessica (Dave), Cheryl, and Nicholas; Kevin, Brian, Michael, and Jason; 5 great grandchildren: Joey, Kalli, Cyrus, Rook, and Daniel; 2 sisters-in-law Margaret Regeness and Lorraine Shepherd; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Henry S. Regeness.

His family will receive friends Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 6-8 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Burial will be private in Evergreen Cemetery, Avon. A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held Friday, September 8, 2017, 11 am at Valley Community Baptist Church, 590 West Avon Road, Avon. A reception will follow.
