Avon Obituary: Ruth Baird, 72

Ruth Ann (Ziegler) Baird, 72, of Avon, beloved wife of the late Warren Baird, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2017.

Born in York, PA, daughter of the late Rev. Edward Ziegler and Ilda (Bittinger) Ziegler, she received her BA from American University. She lived in Unionville, Farmington, Burlington, and West Hartford before moving to Avon.

She was active in the Farmington Community serving on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Advisory Board of Farmington Bank. She was a lifelong avid reader and operated her own title search business, Baird Associates Inc. for over 30 years and was regarded by many as the best title searcher in CT.

She leaves her daughter Megan B. Gilfond and her husband Santiago of Riverside; three grandchildren Gwen, George, and James Gilfond; two brothers Donald Ziegler of Richmond, VA and Robert Ziegler of Australia, many nieces and nephews, and her cat Oakley. Besides her husband Warren she was predeceased by her daughter Daren Baird.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11 am. at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A reception will follow the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
