Avon: Pay The Tax Man By Feb. 1

Supplemental motor vehicle tax bills and second-installment real estate bills are due by Feb. 1 to avoid a late penalty.

AVON, CT — The town's tax collector is reminding folks that supplemental tax bills must be paid by Thursday, Feb. 1, or those bills may grow a bit.

The Avon Office of the Collector of Revenue this week said that is the deadline to pay their January tax bills without facing a late penalty.

Supplemental motor vehicle tax bills and a second installment of real estate tax bills were sent out for a Jan. 1 payment deadline.

But there is a one-month grace period, meaning Feb. 1 is the actual deadline to avoid late fees.

Payment must be received or U.S. postmarked by Feb. 1, to be considered on time.

A Supplemental Motor Vehicle Tax is a tax on motor vehicles newly registered between the dates of Oct. 2, 2022, and July 31, 2023.

The tax is prorated from the month your vehicle was first registered through Sept. 30, 2023.
