Avon Police Rescue Two From SUV Inferno: PD
No one was injured in the Tuesday morning crash, but the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

AVON, CT — Local police Tuesday morning were able to rescue two people from a vehicle conflagration in town after the sport utility vehicle crashed into a tree.
According to the Avon Police Department, officers were called to East Main Street (Route 44) at about 9:43 a.m. Tuesday for a reported crash near the Raymour & Flanigan furniture store in the area.
"Upon arrival, officers found one car off the roadway that crashed into a tree," wrote police via social media. "There was a small amount of smoke coming from the front end of the vehicle."

Police said officers were able to remove the operator and sole occupant from the vehicle before the fire spread.

Police said the Avon Volunteer Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire and the operator was transported to John Dempsey Hospital with "non-evident injuries."
The accident is currently under investigation and there were no other reported vehicles involved , police said.
