AVON, CT — Local police Tuesday morning issued an alert warning residents of a phone scam making its way in town where the caller impersonates police.

The Avon Police Department said this scam artist is claiming to be a member of the police department, is demanding money, and then threatening arrest if the request is ignored.

"This is a scam, there are no law enforcement agencies that will demand money and threaten arrest if they are not paid," wrote the APD Tuesday morning.
