Avon Resident Named Ms. Wheelchair CT
She will represent the state at a national competition.

AVON, CT —Shannon Mazurick of Avon has been crowned Ms. Wheelchair Connecticut 2017.
Mazurick will serve as Connecticut's state titleholder and independent delegate for one year. She will also represent Connecticut at the Ms. Wheelchair America 2018 pageant in Erie, PA, on Aug. 14 to 20, event officials said.
Ms. Wheelchair Connecticut and Ms. Wheelchair America focus on recognizing the roles and
accomplishments of women who use wheelchairs. Throughout her reign, Mazurick will serve as a spokeswoman throughout the state where she can discuss awareness, acceptance and the overall understanding of disabilities with the general public. She will have the opportunity to travel across the state, visit advocacy groups, make public appearances, including possible parade appearances, and is available to conduct interviews.

She will also use her year as Ms. Wheelchair Connecticut 2017 to share her platform: Keep Your Wheels
Spinning." She plans to encourage others to stay active while advocating for accessible fitness facilities andequipment for people of all abilities.
Mazurick uses a wheelchair for mobility because she has Cerebral Palsy.

Since 2009, she has written six books. Beyond her role as an author, Mazurick stays active in the communities she is a part of. She also partners with many different school districts and organizations to help encourage students and community members to always try their best.
