Avon Residents Can Dump Yard Waste For Free This Spring

The town's 'Fee Free Saturdays' program started Saturday, April 20, and continues each Saturday through May 11

AVON, CT — Now that the weather is improving to even more spring-like temperatures, there is no excuse to avoid going outside and cleaning up the yard.

But, just in case you're still procrastinating, the Town of Avon has eliminated yet another excuse.

It started on Saturday, April 20, folks can still dump all that brush and yard waste accumulating over the winter for free at the town's transfer station, which is located at 281 Huckleberry Hill Road, Avon.

"Fee Free Saturdays" then continues on April 27, May 4, and May 11.

If you're an Avon resident, there is no fee to dump your brush at the transfer station, though proof of residency is required.

The program runs from 7:30 a.m. to noon on those days, with the freebies ending one hour before closing (the facility closes at 1 p.m.).

It should be noted commercial landscaping firms assisting residents must be accompanied by the hiring resident.

In addition, no stumps will be accepted.
