Avon School System Searching For New High School, Middle School Principals
The announcement was made Friday.

AVON — Two principals are leaving the school system with just about a month to go in the summer break, Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala said on Friday.
Mala announced the moves "with mixed emotion" in a posting on the school system's Web site. Avon Middle School Principal Marco Famiglietti, has accepted the assistant superintendent of schools position in Clinton Public Schools and Avon High School has lost Christopher Tranberg to Granby as its director of teaching and talent development, he said.
"These moves, while untimely for our district, are consistent with what both have discussed with me as their professional aspirations," Mala said. "I know that I speak for many when I say that they will be missed. On behalf of the Board of Education, the Central Administration, students, parents and residents, I congratulate them on achieving their professional aspirations and thank them for their many contributions to their respective schools and the district as a whole."

To address a "staffing challenge with only a month prior to school starting," "very reputable professionals" have been retained to serve as interim principals in both schools, Mala said. He said they will begin early next week.
Their names will be released when they begin, Mala said.

The search for a new high school principal position will begin about halfway through the school year, he said.
The search to fill the vacancy at the middle school will commence in the fall and Mala said he hopes to have the position filled by the middle of the school year.
The first Day of school is Aug. 31, according to the school system Web site.
