Avon Schools Open Smoothly: Superintendent
More than 3,200 students began classes Wednesday morning.

Editor’s note: We published this story earlier in the week, but are posting it again today in case you missed it.
Other than ”a few transportation issues,” the first day of school in Avon went smoothly, according to Superintendent Gary Mala.
In an email to the Hartford Courant, Mala wrote, “All schools opened without incident and it is my feeling after this day that students, their parents and staff would agree that the new year is off to a good start.”

Avon High School principal Christopher Tranberg told the Courant, “Happy students, happy teachers, you could not ask for more.” Middle school principal Marco Famiglietti added, “We had a fabulous opening.”
