Avon Schools Placed In Soft Lockdown Mode

Concern over "a generalized threat" prompted school officials and police to take action. BREAKING

AVON, CT — Schools in Avon are in soft lockdown mode due to a non-specific threat, according to a statement from school officials.

Interim superintendent of schools JeanAnn Paddyfote issued a statement indicating "a generalized threat found in the community" was cause for the lockdown and a police presence at all town schools.

“We would like to inform you that the Avon Police Department became aware of a generalized threat found in the community," the statement read. "The threat was not specific to any school. However, as a precaution, we are placing the schools in a soft lockdown. The Avon Police Department will have a presence at all the schools.”
