Dump Your Cans/Bottles, Buy A Christmas Tree — Help Avon Scouts

AVON, CT — Locals with piles of bottles and cans collecting space in their homes can unload them and help local scouts out in their endeavors.

And locals also might want to, perhaps, pick out a Christmas tree there too as part of another scout fundraiser.

Avon Scout Troop 274's annual Can and Bottle Drive is happening Saturday, Dec. 3, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Scout Christmas Tree stand outside on Route 44 in Avon at the corner of Route 44 and Bailey Road.

There, "friendly and courteous scouts will unload all your redeemable bottles and cans from your vehicle and even sort them," reads an announcement of the event.

All proceeds go toward scouts attending "High Adventure" trips this summer to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.

While dropping off cans and bottles, folks can pick out a perfect holiday tree at the Scout Christmas Tree Stand.

There, scouts will help guests find the right tree and load it onto their vehicles.

Those buying trees will get a coupon for a free ice cream.
