Avon And Simsbury Teens Going To War (But It's All In Good Fun)

The Avon vs. Simsbury Water Wars will pit teens from both towns against each other next week, with all participants likely to get wet.

AVON/SIMSBURY, CT — Tension appears to have boiled over this summer between Avon and Simsbury, with war being declared among teens and a date of battle already chosen.

But don't worry. This isn't some sort of Connecticut civil war. It's all in good fun. And it, literally, promises to be cool.

On Friday, July 26, at the Avon Free Public Library, 282 Country Club Road, Avon, 15 teens from Simsbury will battle 15 teens from Avon in the "Avon vs. Simsbury Water Wars."

So, what is "Water Wars?"

It will pit the town teams in a series of water-theme challenges, where getting wet is the likely result.

From water gun toys to water balloons to a dunk tank, the competition will promise a soaking good time for participants and spectators alike.

It will all culminate with what is called a "Color War," where (and details are limited on this) teens are being asked to wear clothing "that would be okay to get dye on them."

To find out what that means, folks will just have to turn out.

The 'Water Wars' are for pupils entering 7th- through 12th grade.
