Avon Soccer Shuts Out Farmington
Falcons prevail in first regular season matchup between the teams in over three decades.

The last time Avon and Farmington got together on the soccer pitch in the regular season, Ronald Reagan was president, Tom Brady was in the second grade and this reporter had a full head of hair.
Meeting mid-season for the first time since 1984, the Falcons and Indians hooked up at Fisher Meadow Saturday, with the hosts looking to prove they can compete with the big boys in their new league, the Central Connecticut Conference Central-White Division.
The Falcons did more than just compete, holding last year’s Class LL runners-up scoreless while finding the net twice to post a huge 2-0 victory. In the process, Avon handed its border rival its first loss of the season.

Jack Keenan and Reed Stapleton netted goals for the Falcons, while goalkeeper Danny Mangini blanked the Indians, recording nine saves.
Avon, which left the North Central Connecticut Conference after last season, improved to 7-3 with its third straight victory, while Farmington dipped to 7-1-2.
