Avon State Sen. Witkos Endorsed by Connecticut Business & Industry Association

The following is from the Witkos 2014 campaign:

The Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) today endorsed Kevin D. Witkos for re-election to the state Senate, representing the 8th District.

This upcoming legislative session, legislators are urged to focus on making Connecticut a better place for business – in order to accelerate economic growth, create more opportunities for good, well-paying jobs, and maintain Connecticut’s great quality of life.

“Connecticut needs legislators who will tackle today’s economic challenges while continuing to create opportunities, improve the economy, and build a healthy, prosperous state,” said Joe Brennan, CBIA executive vice president.“Kevin Witkos is the person with the knowledge and commitment to meet those challenges.”

Witkos echoed those sentiments. “There was a time not too long ago when Connecticut was the state that business leaders turned to, to locate their business -- today Connecticut has become a perennial contender for the least business-friendly state in the country. This dichotomy is a product of the policies of Connecticut’s one-party rule. For Connecticut to overcome its sluggish economic growth it needs to turn back to the free market for answers. While my opponent is an outspoken champion for more government intervention in the private-sector, I know that government regulation doesn’t create jobs, build business, or grow the economy. CBIA’s endorsement is testament to the fact that these status quo policies are more caustic than beneficial to economic growth. I am grateful for CBIA’s endorsement, and I am committed to rebuilding a prosperous Connecticut.”

Witkos, who lives in Canton, is seeking re-election in the 8th District, which includes the towns of Avon, Barkhamsted, Canton, Colebrook, Granby, Hartland, Harwinton, New Hartford, Norfolk, Simsbury, and Torrington.
