Avon Student Selected for St. Lawrence University's English Honorary Society

The Avon Old Farms School graduate was inducted into the Irving Bacheller Society.

Benjamin A. Crocker of Avon has been inducted into St. Lawrence University’s Irving Bacheller Society, the Department of English’s honorary society.

Crocker is a member of the Class of 2016 and is majoring in economics and English. He attended Avon Old Farms School.

To be eligible for membership, students must have either completed four English courses and maintained a 3.5 grade point average (GPA) in English or completed six English courses with at least a 3.25 GPA in English and a 3.0 GPA overall.

The Irving Bacheller Society is named for a 1882 graduate of St. Lawrence University who went on to write the first best-selling novel of the 20th century, Eben Holden.

Founded in 1856, St. Lawrence University is a private, independent liberal arts institution of about 2,500 students located in Canton, New York.
