Avon Superintendent's Donations Were in Order: Town Attorney
Contributions to a scholarship fund had been questioned by a pair of residents.
Avon Town Attorney Albert Smith has found no impropriety in donations made by Superintendent of Schools Gary Mala and his wife to a scholarship fund, the Hartford Courant reported.
The matter was investigated by Smith after a pair of town residents questioned whether Mala should be donating money to a scholarship fund named after the sons of the Board of Education chair.
Mala and his wife have donated $1,000 annually to the Andrew and Garrett Roell Scholarship Fund. Their mother, Peggy Roell, serves as chair of the school board.
