Avon Swimmer Wins National Title

Madison Kennedy captured a national championship last weekend, winning the 50-meter freestyle event at the Philips 66 National Swimming Championships in San Antonio, Tex.

Two nights later, the 2005 Avon High School graduate earned the bronze medal in the 100-meter freestyle competition.

The 27-year-old swimmer has had a banner season worldwide. In Dec. 2014, she was part of the mixed 4x50 team that set a world record in Qatar, and last month she was a member of the 4x100 freestyle relay team that won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Toronto.
