Avon Teens Invited To Special Domestic Violence Forum
The educational event will take place at the local library this week and focus on how romantic relationships can sour and what to do.
AVON, CT — Local teens are invited to a special program this week on avoiding domestic violence in relationships.
Avon Youth Services is hosting Hartford-based Interval House, whose representatives will present their program "Love Labyrinth"for those aged 15 and up.
It will take place in the Avon Free Public Library Community Room on Thursday, Feb. 5, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

"We will explore how unhealthy and emotionally abusive behaviors like gaslighting and volatility can make someone feel like they’re trapped in a maze and unable to get out," wrote event organizers.
Teens will be able to earn an hour of high school community service for attending, and free snacks and prizes will also be available. This event is for teens in grades 9-12.

"This event is intended solely for teens to facilitate open and honest conversations that might not happen in the presence of parents and caregivers," wrote Avon Youth Services.
"We will have a space for parents to hang out in while they wait for their teens to finish the program."
The program is free, but registration is requested.
