Avon Theater Group Announces Cancelation of Summer Production
Playhouse 44 has canceled its summer production of 'Godspell' but says its remaining 2026 performances will proceed as planned.
AVON, CT — The Avon-based community theater group Playhouse 44 has canceled its planned summer production of 'Godspell,' citing several unexpected circumstances.
In an announcement, the organization said it made "the difficult but important decision" to cancel the musical, which was slated to start Aug. 14.
Despite the cancellation, Playhouse 44 said the rest of its 2026 season remains on schedule.

The organization's upcoming events include a production as part of Avon's America 250 celebration, an original comedy play, and a holiday concert.

The organization said those who have already purchased tickets will get a refund "within a month."
