Avon Unveils July 4 Holiday Weekend Impacts

AVON, CT — With the Fourth of July holiday falling on a Thursday this year, how it impacts municipal operations in a given municipality is likely to vary.

Recently, Town of Avon officials announced their closings/operations schedule for the long holiday weekend.

According to local leaders, Avon town offices, public works, the senior center, the landfill, and the Avon Free Public Library will be closed on Thursday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

Avon officials said the following announcements should be noted:

• All town facilities listed above will resume operations on Friday, July 5.
• The landfill will be open regular hours on Friday, July 5, and Saturday, July 6.
• The library will begin Saturday Summer Hours (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) on Saturday, July 6.
