Avon Urges Caution On Trail Due To Road Construction
A portion of the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail in Avon this week is being impacted by the ongoing Old Farms Road Project.

AVON, CT — Work has commenced this week on Scoville Road where the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail crosses it.
As a result, town officials on Wednesday said hikers/bikers/joggers using the trail need to exercise caution in that area.

The work is being done as part of the massive Old Farms Road Project.
" The pavement located at the trail crossing will be removed and barricades will be placed on both sides of the crossing/intersection," wrote the Town of Avon Wednesday.

"While the trail will remain open while work is occurring, trail users will need to exercise caution in traversing the area under construction."
Those riding bicycles, for example, are being asked to dismount their bicycles when in that area and all trail users should use caution as they cross the impacted area.
The construction work there is expected to be completed by Aug. 9.
