Avon Woman Killed In Route 15 Crash: State Police

State police said two other vehicles were struck by flying debris as a result of the incident.

NORWALK, CT — State police said a 46-year-old Avon woman was killed in a crash Tuesday night on Route 15 in Norwalk.

According to an accident summary, state police received calls around 9:57 p.m. reporting a serious motor vehicle accident on Route 15 southbound prior to exit 40B, and that one of the vehicles was on fire.

State police said Hongying Tian of Avon was "traveling at a high rate of speed on Route 15 southbound."

Her vehicle then "traveled into the median, breached the metal beam guide rail, struck a large tree and then traveled across both lanes of Route 15 into the grassy shoulder and came to rest against several trees and brush,” state police said.

According to state police, Tian was ejected from the vehicle and suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. She was subsequently transported to Norwalk Hospital and was pronounced deceased a short time later, state police said.

Two other vehicles were struck by flying debris as a result of the incident, however the occupants of both vehicles were not injured, state police said.
