According to the foundation, the funds will go toward the creation of interpretive history panels in their new museum opening in 2024.

The “Avon History Museum” will be at 8 E. Main St. (Route 44) in a 200-year-old one-room schoolhouse currently under renovation.

It will contain wall panels and artifact displays covering more than 400 years of the history of the town which was first called Nod, then Northington, and finally Avon.

The donation comes as the historical society is going all-in on a paver brick-buying campaign to raise money for the museum.

The bricks, which will adorn public walkways outside the museum, can be purchased as gifts for the holiday season.
