Avon's Playhouse 44 Seeks Performers For ‘Godspell'
Avon-based Playhouse 44 will hold auditions later this month for its August production of the musical "Godspell."
AVON, CT — If you want to be a part of a popular, summertime musical event, an Avon-based theater group has something for you.
Playhouse 44 will host open auditions June 22 and 23 for its upcoming production of the musical Godspell, scheduled to be performed Aug. 14-16 at Avon High School.
The Avon-based community theater organization is seeking performers ages 18 and older for all roles in the 1971 version of the musical.

According to the group, auditioners should be comfortable singing and moving and interested in participating in a production centered on themes of love, hope, charity and compassion.
Auditions will take place at The Residence at Brookside, 117 Simsbury Road in Avon.

Prospective cast members are asked to select one of four audition sessions and confirm their choice by emailing info@playhouse44.org. The available audition blocks are:
- Monday, June 22, 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Monday, June 22, 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 23, 6:15 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 23, 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Participants should bring a photo and résumé, wear comfortable clothing, and prepare a 60-second vocal selection from the original show. Those wishing to sing a selection from another musical must provide sheet music.
The performances are scheduled for the evenings of Aug. 14 and 15 and the afternoon of Aug. 16 at Avon High School.
Playhouse 44, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community theater and performing arts organization founded in 2024, said the production will be its 12th event. Since its founding, the group has produced two plays, four storytelling events, a music-and-comedy revue, three concerts and a corporate event for The Longevity Zone.
