Avon's Trails To Get Earth Day Makeover
Volunteers are being sought for a special cleanup event in Avon for Earth Day on Saturday, April 20.
AVON, CT — The town's beloved hiking and biking trail will get a much-needed spring cleaning for Earth Day Saturday and volunteers are being sought to help.
Helpers will come together on Saturday, April 20, for a special clean-up event being sponsored by Bike Walk Avon CT, the Avon Department of Recreation and Parks, and the Farmington Valley Trails Council.
Folks will gather at 8:30 a.m. at the trailhead located at the Avon Public Works Department at 11 Arch Road, Avon.

From there, volunteers will fan out and clean and clear the trails so hikers and bikers can fully enjoy them along with the spring weather.
Helpers are being asked to bring their gloves, rakes, and any other tools that may be required.

Plastic bags will be provided to rid these areas of any trash that accumulated over the winter.
