Award-Winning Mystery Writer To Appear In Avon

AVON, CT — The Avon Free Public Library is hosting a noted author at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, who will discuss her latest published work.

Mariah Fredericks, author of "The Lindbergh Nanny," returns to celebrate her new book, "The Wharton Plot."

The public is invited for this in-person, moderated conversation at the library, which is located at 281 Country Club Road, Avon.

Her talk is sponsored by the Friends of the Avon Public Library.

The book is set in New York City in 1911, and Edith Wharton, almost equally famed for her novels and her sharp tongue, is at a crossroads with both her marriage and her writing.

"When dashing novelist David Graham Phillips is shot to death outside the Princeton Club, Edith is asked to champion his final novel, a scandalous tale of a woman who makes her own way," wrote the library in an announcement.

Fredericks was born, raised, and still lives in New York City.

She graduated from Vassar College with a degree in history and is the author of the Jane Prescott mystery series, which has twice been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award, as well as several YA novels.
