Nationwide, the average price for regular gasoline as of Sunday was $3.573 per gallon, in comparison to $2.718 in August last year, according to AAA.
Connecticut's average price for regular gasoline was $3.924 per gallon on Sunday, compared to $3.676 in Massachusetts and $3.871 in New York. Hawaii currently has the highest regular gas price average at $4.104. Connecticut's average price for regular gasoline has dropped since Saturday's $3.928 and last Sunday's $3.958.

The average in the Hartford area was $3.890 per gallon, down from $3.896 Saturday and $3.928 a week ago. Last year at this time, regular gasoline in the Hartford area was $2.822 per gallon.
