Blue Earth Compost Comes to Avon, Takes Mess Out of Composting

Blue Earth Compost has extended its food scrap collection service to Avon.

The company, based in West Hartford collects food scraps from 40 different households in Hartford and West Hartford. It then brings back usable compost, which makes for good, healthy soil.

Blue Earth Compost received interest from other nearby communities during the past couple of months, said Alexander Williams, owner and director of operations.

The service includes a food scrap collection pail, weekly pickup of materials and return deliveries of finished compost.

Customers who don’t want compost can have it donated on their behalf to local farms and gardens.

There is a two week trial period being offered.
