Book Fairs Raise Significant Cash For Avon Free Library
The Avon Free Public Library said this week that two October book sales raised $2,456 more this year than in 2022.

AVON, CT — Undeterred by rainy weather, book lovers flocked to the book sales at the Avon Free Public Library on Country Club Road in Avon recently and raised significant funds in the process.
The library hosted a book sale Oct. 13-14 and a separate one for children and teens Oct. 21. Funds raised from the sales benefited numerous programs at the Library.

Hosted by the Friends of the Avon Library, they were held in the Community Room, which was filled with heavily laden tables of books carefully organized from history and biography to vintage books and many novels.
The children eagerly chose books that appealed to their interests in nature, adventure, and timely books on Halloween and the upcoming holidays.

"The library is clearly a favorite destination for children and adults alike, regardless of the weather," wrote the library in a release.
Initial revenue projections for this year from the adult book sales and children’s book sales produced revenue that was back at pre-COVID levels.
The full two-weekend book fair results were $14,306.78, or $2,455.81 higher than similar sales in 2022.
The Friends of Avon Free Public Library’s volunteer efforts produce events like these to raise funds for the library programs not funded by the Library budget.
