Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • The Assumption College Department of Athletics has announced that Evan Edgar, of Avon, has earned a spot on the 2017-18 Assumption College men's track and field team. Edgar, Class of 2018, is competing during the Greyhounds' winter and spring season, which began in January for the indoor season and will return March 23 at the annual Bridgewater State University Invitational for the outdoor season.

Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

  • A pair of students from Avon have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester at Clarkson University: They are Devin McKenna, a junior majoring in civil engineering, and Sophie Wirpel, a senior majoring in chemical engineering. Dean's List students must achieve a minimum 3.25 grade-point average and also carry at least 14 credit hours.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

  • Tunxis Community College in Farmington has announced the names of those students who have qualified for the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. Students matriculated in a certificate or degree program who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have successfully completed 12 or more credits, or have earned 12 credits cumulatively over multiple semesters, are eligible for this academic honor. Avon honorees are Saima Ahmed, Christopher Bianchi, Klaudia Kusmierz, Alexandra Lopez, Jessica McCamish, Genevieve Piccione, Heather Ragusa Doukas, Nida Shaikh, Yukiko Sobu, Celeste Weber and Lauren Yost.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

  • Four Avon students have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2017 semester. They are Jessie Zionts, Honors; Amber Murray, High Honors; Jared Culbertson, Honors; and Erin Getz, Highest Honors. Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits). Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

University of Scranton, Scranton PA

  • Lisa Crivelli of Avon was among more than 1,600 students named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2017 fall semester. The Dean's List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean's List. Crivelli is a senior occupational therapy major in the University's Panuska College of Professional Studies.
