James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA
- Avon resident Mikayla Bernetich spent spring break serving others through James Madison University's Alternative Spring Break Program. Bernetich, a Marketing major, traveled to Chicago, IL to volunteer with Heartland Health Outreach. The student-led ASB trips took place from March 5-12. Each trip focused on a social issue, such as homelessness, resettlement, environmentalism or community wellness, in a specific region. Almost 250 students embarked on 25 spring break trips around the country and world. The students spent the week living simply, focused on service in their destination community but also on teamwork and reflection within their group.

- The Varsity Eight from the rowing team, which includes Frank Campanelli of Avon, has been tabbed as the WPI Male Student-Athlete of the Week for the week ending Sunday, April 8. Nathan Pietrowicz, Jeremy Hemingway, Michael Eaton, Ben Thornton, Trevor Dowd, Campanelli, Isaac Beeman, Lorenzo Dube and coxswain Kenedi Heather bested Wesleyan by less than a second to retain the Class of 2003 Cup on Saturday. The crew then raced as two fours, with Heather hot-seating, to defeat Bates, Hamilton and Conn College in both races.
