AVON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Assumption College, Worcester MA

• Evan Edgar, of Avon, was one of 617 graduates to receive a degree during Assumption College's 101st Commencement exercises on Sunday, May 13, held at the DCU Center in downtown Worcester, MA, in which speaker The Most Reverend Robert E. Barron, S.T.D., auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and evangelist who uses various forms of media, in particular social media, to share the Gospel message and one of the most-followed Catholics on social media, delivered the Commencement address. Edgar received a bachelor's degree during the ceremony.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA

• Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the spring semester of the 2017-18 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition. Honorees from Avon are Lydia Cuddeback, Class of 2019, and Tess Smith, Class of 2018.
