AVON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Bates College, Lewiston ME

• Rachael Rosow was named to the dean's list at Bates College for the fall semester ending in December 2017. This is a distinction earned by students whose cumulative grade point average is 3.71 or higher.
  Rosow, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Rosow of Avon, is a 2014 graduate of Avon High School. She is majoring in psychology and biology at Bates.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

• Tori Hicks has earned a spot on the Goodwin College Dean's List for the fall 2017 semester. Tori, a student from Avon, is one of 963 students to make the Dean's List, reserved for those who demonstrate great academic performance. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY

• Haley King of Avon, who is in the new media design program, made the Dean's List for the fall semester at Rochester Institute of Technology. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

• A pair of students from Avon have been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the fall 2017 semester at St. Lawrence University. They are Sydney E. Chatfield, a member of the Class of 2019 majoring in biochemistry, and Jenny L. Henneberry, a member of the Class of 2021. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
• Stephen P. Dorney of Avon is participating in a St. Lawrence University off-campus study abroad program during the spring 2018 semester. Dorney is a member of the Class of 2019 and is majoring in economics-mathematics. He is studying abroad with the Austro-American Institute of Education in Austria. Nearly three-quarters of St. Lawrence University undergraduates study abroad, with nearly two-thirds of students studying abroad for a semester or longer.
