Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• The 2017-18 Eastern Connecticut State University women's lacrosse team is looking to return to the victor's stand. With a core of eight seniors leading the team, the Warriors are hoping to secure the team's first Little East Conference championship since 2013. Among the students playing for this year's team is Olivia Donahue of Avon, who plays the goaltender position. Donahue's major is Pre-Elementary Education and Psychology.

Emerson College, Boston MA

• Paul Ross, a junior journalism major from Avon, brings political commentary influenced by political comedians Stephen Colbert and John Oliver to Emerson Independent Video with his show Paulitics.
  Each episode features news, discussions, and a monologue from Ross, the show’s host and executive producer of content. He said he wants politicians, pundits, and political campaign workers to appear as guests. Paulitics began filming on Feb. 9.

Fordham University, New York NY

• Julia DeSimas of Avon was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. DeSimas is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year.
