Carnival In Avon To Benefit Avon Lions Club

AVON, CT — The carnival is coming to town in Avon this weekend, courtesy of the annual Avon Lions Club Carnival.

The three-day event lasts Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 22-24, at 99 Thompson Road, Avon, across the street from Thompson Brook School.

The old-fashioned carnival will feature the usual array of rides, carnival fare and games.

Carnival hours are:

• Friday, Sept. 22, from 6 to 10 p.m.

• Saturday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 10 p.m.

• Sunday, Sept. 24, noon to 5 p.m.

The highlight of the carnival is a 9 p.m. fireworks show planned on Friday, weather permitting.

Event proceeds benefit the Avon Lions Club, which has been active since 1951, and the various causes it supports, such as vision screenings, food drives and other social endeavors.
