Citizen's Police Academy Offered In Avon

Residents will learn more about local law enforcement during this 9-week program.

AVON, CT — The Avon Police Department is offering a Citizens’ Police Academy, beginning May 2, 2018, for residents who want to learn more about local law enforcement. The 9-week program will take place at the Avon Police Department, 60 West Main Street, from May 2 to June 27, on Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.

Those attending will gain insight into various functions of the Avon Police Department, including Crime Scene Investigation, DWI Enforcement, Community Policing Programs and the Detective Unit. In addition, participants will learn about some of the regional programs the Avon Police Department participates in, such as Accident Reconstruction and the Emergency Services Team.

Class size is limited. Eligible applicants must be at least 18 years of age, reside in Avon and/or own a business incorporated in Avon. All participants must complete an application and pass a criminal background check. Applications can be obtained at the Avon Police Department (front lobby) and may also be found on-line at http://www.avonct.gov/Citizens’ Police Academy.
