[Update] CL&P Opens Emergency Operations Center After Scattered Power Outages
The National Weather Service Issues a Flood Warning

CL&P anticipates all power will be restored statewide by midnight Thursday.
Under 5,000 customers remained with power at 1:30 p.m. At peak, 24,000 customers lost power at 8 a.m. Thursday.

"For CL&P customers who lost power due to this storm, we expect to substantially complete work by 8 p.m. tonight, and expect the remaining few hundred customers to have their power restored by midnight tonight or sooner," said CL&P Acting President Jim Muntz. "We will keep working and are committed to getting everyone back on as quickly and as safely as possible."

Did your power flicker at all between last night and today?
Connecticut Light & Power officials said there have been scattered problems throughout the state because of the heavy Wednesday night rain and high winds Thursday morning.
The power company, which took a lot of heat after long durations of power outages statewide following the Oct. 29 snowstorm, opened its emergency operations center Thursday morning to assess the damage.
According to the CL&P news release sent Thursday morning, "500 line and tree crews were pre-staged for the storm in various locations across the 149 cities and towns the company services."
No Avon, Canton West Hartford or Southington customers are without power as of 1:40 p.m., but 17 Simsbury customers, as well as three in Granby and two in Farmington, do not have power.
Power Safety Tips
CL&P reminds residents to stay away from downed wires and they should be considered live. If you see a downed, hanging or burning power line, call 9-1-1. Stay inside your vehicle if a power line falls on it. If the power in your home is out, contact CL&P at 1-800-286-2000.Turn of your circuit breakers until power is restored and do not use a generator unless it is installed by a licensed electrician.
