College Notes - Avon Students

AVON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Asnuntuck Community College, Enfield CT

• Alyssa Kilduff and Valerie Potanka, both of Avon, were among the graduates who recently received degrees or certificates from Asnuntuck Community College.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA

• Bucknell University presented degrees to 1,090 graduates at Commencement on May 20, 2018, including Tess Smith and Ryan Wilde, both of Avon.

Colgate University, Hamilton NY

• Members of the Class of 2018 received their diplomas May 20 at Colgate University's 197th Commencement. Richard Haass, president of the Council on Foreign Relations delivered the keynote address. Jordan Levine of Avon majored in Economics and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Caroline Schaefer of Avon majored in Middle East and Islamic Studies and International Relations and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

• Avon resident Kate Alexandra Nicholson has been named to the president's list at James Madison University for the spring 2018 semester. Students who earn president's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.900 or above. Nicholson is majoring in Communication Studies.
• Jenna Rose Alessio of Avon has been named to the dean's list at James Madison University for the spring 2018 semester. Students who earn dean's list honors must carry at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Alessio is majoring in Kinesiology.
