Distracted Driving Detail Scheduled in Avon

AVON, CT — As part of April's "U Drive, U Text, U Pay" campaign from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a Regional Traffic Team traffic detail focusing on distracted driving will be conducted throughout Avon on Tuesday, April 11.

Officers from the Avon and Simsbury police departments will be directing efforts toward distracted driving violations, along with the usual motor vehicle violation enforcement, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Infractions for texting and driving are $150 for the first offense, $300 for a second offense and $500 for a third offense.
