Dump Your Bottles/Cans With Avon Boy Scouts Saturday

Avon Boy Scout Troop 274 is hosting its annual bottle/can drive at a local church on Saturday morning, March 23.

AVON, CT — If you're not in the mood to haul those sticky bottles and cans to the local supermarket, why not let Avon Boy Scout Troop 274 do it for you instead?

And in dropping off those pesky recyclables to the scouts, you'll be doing your community a little good and helping local scouts participate in various summer programs.

Scouts will be at the West Avon Congregational Church, 280 Country Club Road, Avon, from 8 a.m. to noon this Saturday, March 23, for the troop's annual bottle and can drive.

All folks have to do is fill up garbage bags or boxes full of bottles/cans and leave them in the trunk.

Then, "friendly and courteous scouts will unload all your recyclable bottles and cans from your vehicle and, even, sort them."

Troop members will then use the proceeds from the bottles and cans and help local scouts attend "High Aventure" summer programs this summer.

"No more waiting in line to return them or dealing with full or broken machines," wrote Troop 274. "Scouts will do all that for you."
